Some people really are thinking differently to you.
Never have we been more aware of this.
But did you ever stop to ask yourself why?
It turns out it’s not just you’re not on the same page, you aren’t event in the same book…

It seems that only
Time will tell
If we the people
Can break the spell
Words were cast
And thoughts created
To steer us to
What they have fated
For us all
And set in motion
And now seems tied
To a certain potion
A type of devilry
It is afoot
And wants us all
Firmly put
In our place
And not to know
The truth of it all
Behind the show
~
But the façade is slipping…

A madness now
It has descended
And personal rights
Must be defended
From the group
Who seem to feel
They have a right
With no appeal
For others they think
They get to decide
While feeling scared
They want to hide
Behind the ‘new normal’
Insidious veil
The stage has been set
For an epic tale
And now we are here
All that we can know
Is who can you trust
Who is friend from foe?
~
It may be important

It’s strange you know
I can’t deny
How those that chose
To blindly comply
Think it is
Even mildly ok
To force their will
And what they say
Upon those folk
Who choose to hold
And wait to see
If what’s being sold
Is in fact
Another lie
There’s been so many
And how they try
But desperation
Becomes the theme
To embolden the flock
To be extreme
Instead they sound
Like pushers of old
Repeating themselves
Until they are told
~
To fuck off

While looking down
They just can’t see
And seems a shock
We want to be free
From their weird
New medical rules
We are not sick
And are not fools
But playing the game
They are in deep
So much on the line
We need to keep
Our wits and senses
As sharp as knives
More than now
It’s about our lives
And what’s to come
The future’s near
And shouldn’t be dark
Or framed with fear
~
But that’s how they are making it

Rhyme and Reason

And now it’s split
They did the deed
To separate us
They planted the seed
Creating a lack
Of unity
Destroying friendships
And family
Turning people
Against their kind
By twisting facts
Within their mind
And now it’s fractured
It’s hard to see
Just what they expect
From society
They are just people
From up on high
Shouting loudly
You must comply
But when you’ve given
Lots of thought
To how things run
And what you’re taught
A different side
It does emerge
And all that learning
Does converge
~
To make your own informed decision

Rhyme and Reason

If your ideals
They do offend
Do not hide them
Or pretend
To be that which
Just isn’t you
Hold your belief
And what is true
Within your heart
And in your mind
Can bring a calm
And you might find
That knowing this
Can make you strong
To even admit
When you are wrong
But when you know
It’s just not right
Something compels you
To stand and fight
You feel it’s wrong
In every bone
They want us to feel
Lost and alone
And in this charade
We try and make sense
While many are stuck
It seems on the fence
~
Or just don’t see where this is going

You know when you hear the phrase ‘not on the same page’? Implying that you are both not quite thinking along the same lines. When we realised there was a massive difference in thought going on, I realised we weren’t even in the same book.
We discovered that my husband is Aphantasic, meaning he doesn’t see any mental imagery in mind. I on the other hand, it turns out, am Hyperphantasic, someone who visualises most of the time. It may seem like a small difference to some people, and maybe it is to others, but for us it was huge. And went some way to explain why he just couldn’t understand my viewpoint on many things – despite various method of breaking it down or through logical explanations. Once we knew, I don’t expect him to understand certain things now. Because I can imagine what it is like to not have the ability – or affliction, to see images in mind, have internal narration (inner monologue) and recurring memories. In fact, once I did imagine what it was like to not have them, I understood him better and things made more sense. But the flipside of that, is that he can’t do the same. He does not imagine. So his understanding of me is limited, the best way I felt I could explain it was to write it down. Put in into sections of what areas of life I felt this made a difference.
From that came my book, Meeting in the Middle of Nowhere, describing what it is like to have Hyperphantasia and how I feel this has affected many areas of my life and experiences. And describing as best I can, the viewpoint on those subjects from someone with Aphantasia.
Meeting in the Middle of Nowhere.

This way of thought
They’ve laid on thick
We ‘re all gonna die
That rhetoric
Thinking of dangers
Round every turn
It’s conditioning
They want us to learn
And know our place
In their new world
Where we’ll be watched
And all controlled
Being hooked up
And integrated
If you think for yourself
You’ll be berated
Because my friends
It seems through fear
And propaganda
It would appear
They’ve turned some folk
Against their own
Right from the start
The seeds were sown
~
And have been well tended ever since

Let’s not mince words
And just be clear
What has occurred
Is project fear
Changing the face
Of reality
Replacing facts
With insanity
No logic or reason
And stirring up hate
Giving us things
To associate
With those fears
And make them more
Planting the seeds
For a social war
And one of the mind
They want your thought
Stressed and strained
And to be fraught
With worry and fear
That’s all there seems
While all they do
Is enact their schemes
But something is
So far amiss
We seem on the edge
Of a precipice
~
And it’s getting tense
