A reading of my article – More Than Pain Gets Killed

A well-known saying and usually revolving around treasure maps, or a designated point of interest. Marked with a mysterious X. Now, in these modern technological times, we have it being used as a brand and for various symbolism. A certain social media site changed its corporate name to it, and it’s mentioned here and there with projects and such.
X marks the spot – treasure maps and the location of something mysterious or of value. Like Indiana Jones finding the X in the library.
Project-X – 1987 film.
The X-Men films – mutant variations of humans
X – being one of our chromosomes. Double X specifically being for females.
X-Files – a series of strange occurrences.
X-Rays – a tool to look through objects.
Planet X – allegedly a planet that may exist but hasn’t been found.
X – denoting the roman numeral for the number ten. Also used as the X in the library as mentioned above.
As with some other wonderings, there might not be anything there to link together and is simply reaching. But the reoccurrence of seeing it, seems as though it’s a nagging thought, but one you can’t quite remember yet won’t leave you alone. Perhaps being another part of the smoke and mirrors, it seems relevant because that is its purpose. Rather than to reveal, it’s there to distract. As with much these days, but if the thought finds an avenue or a road to go down, I will follow it…

The number of Deadly Sins, and the number of days we allocate as we week in a constant cycle. But for this piece, it is about the sins and how they appear quite prevalent in today’s society and attitude in many areas of society and individuals.
Pride – they say to take pride in yourself in society, yet pride comes before a fall. And it has been noted that a whole month is now dedicated to it, nothing is usually made mainstream by accident, so I wonder.
“Pride is identified as dangerously corrupt selfishness, putting one’s own desires, urges, wants, and whims before the welfare of others. Dante’s definition of pride was “love of self-perverted to hatred and contempt for one’s neighbour”.
Greed – plenty of that to see around us. From many areas, my article Monopoly goes into that a bit more.
Lust – a rather deviant landscape is creeping in making it seem as though this one is also making its place known in society. Encouraging a longing to be indulged and amplified.
Envy – we seem to have many who covet and envy what others have. Intentionally or not, longing and wanting what others appear to have or be, isn’t healthy, or necessary.
Gluttony – overindulgence and wastefulness. There is so much it’s hard to know where to start, but opulence is rife.
Wrath – the scene has been set for the most vengeful showdown. Rage and anger being stoked where possible, harboured and nurtured. All of these ‘desires’ feed into creating a certain type of energy and have a role to play.
Sloth – there is much occurring without care or thought of responsibility or morals. And it shows, from the top down we are beholden currently to it.
It seems there is always more to see once you scratch the surface, and what type of morals and motivations are behind other people’s intentions is one you should give thought to, as well as your own…
