Another lovely December sunrise. I forget to download the photos from my Nikon sometimes and get a pleasant surprise weeks later when I go back through them.

The mid morning clouds were a bit strange yesterday over the hills, streaky and diagonal. Not often do I see that.

Colours of the morning
Fill the sky
The darkness drifts away
Bringing light
Taking us into the hope
Of a new day

We’ve had some beautiful sunsets and sunrises this winter, and some of them I have even managed to catch. A walk in the Gloucestershire countryside.

It looked like it was going to be a good sunrise then stopped. I had thought it wouldn’t turn into anything, I was wrong.

I could see from my afternoon walk the clouds would be nice at sunset if they hung around. So I got the dog lead back out and walked to the park. I love the winter trees when they look stark against the sky, today was no exception. It gets dark so quickly you have to be quick to catch a good sunset, hopefully there will be more to come.

I must admit there is something I love about winter coming. Everyone else I know moans about the weather, it’s what we do in Britain. But I like it, the trees in particular, the blackness of them and how they look against the sky.
I must try and get out more to get some more shots.

Waking up to a frosty morning is made far better when you have a beautiful sunrise to accompany it. The day has taken a wintery turn now, so it’s nice to get up early and catch these moments.
