How can a year… (poetry)

How can a year

Feel so long

The strangest one

That’s gone so wrong

Whatever plans

We thought we had

It started good

Then went to bad

So much delayed

And put on hold

Dreams and lives

Are now controlled

It’s hard to swallow

And really accept

The ones who lead us

Are blindly inept

And at their whim

Ourselves we find

While in this play

We’re all entwined

To whatever end

Never before… (poetry)

Never before

Did I see

That all of us

Collectively

Have been held down

Our lives disrupted

By the powers that be

Who are corrupted

It’s not for our safety

Or our health

But just to add

A little more wealth

To their growing

Money pot

Stripping the rest

They want the lot

By taking down

The average folk

I guess to them

We’re just a joke

For wanting a life

And security

To them we’re just

Opportunity

To offer us more debt…

I’m not sure what… (poetry)

I’m not sure what

We can achieve

If there’s no way

To ever believe

What’s being said

And being done

It’s been a debacle

Now it’s begun

Breaking down

What once there was

To create a new

Just because

This is what

The powers that be

Have now set forth

As reality

The normal fears… (poetry)

The normal fears

That we have faced

Have been rewritten

And replaced

That there are those

Elected through charm

Who actually mean

To cause us harm

If it was nature

Throwing the curve

We’d find our feet

And then observe

How we can group

And organize

But not when trapped

In all these lies

The mental threat

Looms ever near

While slowly taking

What we hold dear

Through all of this

I can but hope

We make it through

And manage to cope

It’s a strange road ahead…

I wonder where… (poetry)

I wonder where

We go from here

The narrative set

Is a landscape of fear

Turned they have

The normal brain

To be taboo

To feel insane

For questioning

What should be fine

But instead

We walk the line

Of knowing not

Where this will go

Beholden to

The strangest show

Yet on we go

Because we must

No longer sure

If we can trust

Ourselves

So much has happened… (poetry)

So much has happened

It’s hard to explain

And so consumed

One can’t contain

The rug’s been pulled

From underfoot

While what you knew

Is firmly put

Away, behind you

To be no more

The futures changed

And now seems war

Is being raged

Against your mind

Manipulated

I think you’ll find

What they seek

They do not hide

To conquer us

They must divide

What we think

And friend from friend

And forward we go

To whatever end
