Hummingbird hawkmoth in the garden

A real treat to see one of these in my garden, a few times in one day, and actually saw one again this morning. The buddleia is doing a very good job this year, catering for plenty of bees, butterflies, moth, hoverflies, beetles and various other small insects. Got a few good pics and fottage of it flying around, but they aren’t easy!

Damselfly hatches

An extremely exciting event occurred, this one in the small observation tank. I happened to glance in and saw a speedy darting creature. It looked pretty well formed and I realised it had nothing to climb out onto! I filmed it as well as best I could.

So, i put in a bamboo pole in case it needed to get out, which it did, within a very short time.

I was then rooted to the spot for as long as could (dinner got in the way), but I stayed for much of the transformation.

It was pretty awesome to watch.

Beautiful.

And quite a special thing to witness.
