So Simple

It’s not hard to convince people of how you want them to see something, or how easy it is to lose the truth, as we have seen of late. But what of the ones who don’t forget, or blindly believe and follow the official narrative? I have been hearing some very compelling theories about history, and what has been done to erase and rewrite large parts of it already. I am not here to say whether it is true or not as I like the rest of you, don’t know, but only to speculate on how one might achieve that collective loss of knowledge and gain control of our social consciousness.

If you aren’t familiar with some of the alternative ideas, check out Mud flood theory, the crater theory, and Tartarian history. They all tie in to me and form a bigger picture that even I hadn’t considered in all my wonderings.

If you want to get rid of what came before and erase it, you would need to take steps to ensure that knowledge wasn’t able to be passed down, that it was smashed and overwritten, language and meanings changed so that confusion takes over. Wars and immigration seem to do that well and you don’t have to look too far back in our recent history (and currently) to see we displaced thousands of children and adults by sending them to ‘colonies’. But what of those people who got given new lives, histories and futures. Many lied to and told their parents had died, and they were treated awfully once there.

That paves the way for a very controllable society. Formed from people who were robbed of security and roots, and were taken to this new world. Not forgetting a systematic breakdown on the local inhabitants to achieve the same. Displace and disrupt the flow of self and sense of community. Seems to be part of their MO. This appears to have happened time and again.

It may sound wild on the face of it, but having thought it through it actually seems quite logical and an easy way to disrupt things. It all seems to tie back to and start around the 1850s. The industrial revolution seems to be part of it, and marks the real start of their drive for changing everything. Another reset if you will. Whatever the cause for this reset (some speculate there was a catastrophe around a mudflood and nefarious people’s seized control), it changed everything. But there is so much I didn’t know and things that I did I hadn’t questioned, just accepted. So now I question it all and wonder what other purpose the actions and events may have had, if thought of from a new perspective.

I’ll mention the mud flood here with more details as it’s a starting point. No date for it or full details, but the evidence they say remains. And the multitude of buildings we have that appear to be submerged by at least a floor underground are there. Everywhere in fact, but only ones of a certain age, pre-1850. Seems odd to build houses that far unground with windows, because that’s the giveaway, the tops of the windows show still. There are an awful lot of buildings that seem to have been founded, rather than have a built date as well. So, make of that what you will. And when you start looking at The Old World and buildings, you start to see a big difference. It seems ‘neoclassical’ was the go-to style for every country in the world, large spectacular buildings some of which we still have and are in use today. Unfortunately, a huge amount of them have been demolished and destroyed in the last 150 years. By way of wars, development and colonisation.

So, you rob a country of its heritage, steal its wealth, replace its children, change signage and names. Replace the language. How would you ever know what it was within 50 years? A good film for a view of how quickly we can forget is Book of Eli. A good watch.

It seems around the Time of Change as I will call it, we had things in the US called orphan trains. To remove children from the cities and distribute them around the country. What an easy way to move children, and possibly lose some too. Trafficking is big business. We also sent loads from the UK to Australia as well, and Denmark took them from Greenland to move them. There’s been a lot of people moving. It also strikes me as an easy way to literally replace people, if you say had an amount of people you wanted to insert into a population unnoticed. Another good cover for that I realised would be the world’s fairs. Now there is a subject worth attention. Until watching information on the above, I will admit, I had never heard of a world’s fair happening. It was never mentioned in history lessons and doesn’t seem to have popped up at all, until now. And when I saw the splendour and grandness of them, I was instantly confused as to what the hell happened! They make no sense at all, costing vast sums (at a time when apparently we had wars and hardships), made losses, they built all the incredible buildings in record time over huge areas, only to demolish nearly all of them straight away. More mysteriously being lost to fire soon after if not destroyed.

Also, around the 1850s came the drive to suddenly ‘build’ a mental asylum in every town in England, usually a massive Victorian style spectacular building. And schools, a huge number of similar buildings became schools, despite literacy not really becoming a big thing until 1900. Why did they need to suddenly lock away lots of people, or label them mental? Were they remnants of the old time who needed removing? Quietly. Then the need to educate everyone and get them in line for the weird society based around industry and profit. Not for our benefit or profit mind you, for the powers that be.

It may not be as above, and there may be nothing to see if you look closer, but most official narratives are lies, covering the real purpose, so why would we assume anything different for the past. As they say ‘whoever controls the past, controls the future’…

Do You Want To Be Monitored?

This is a follow up piece to Monitoring – because I feel I need to play it out again for some, and maybe in a bit more detail.

Firstly, we know they are already monitoring us. Everything we say and do online and via the telephone is logged somewhere, programs run through data, algorithms do their thing and it gets stored in the rather large data banks they have around the world. But what is the purpose of it – it doesn’t really seem like a big thing if someone knows what you eat, where you shop, who you talk to, what you say, how you feel – does it?

All of those personal things that make up your daily and weekly routine, used to be private. If someone was tracking all those things about you, we used to call them stalkers. But because it is a corporation doing it, people seem fine with it. But what do they want to do with your data? I have heard people say “I’m not that interesting, I don’t care if they monitor me” – which I find a bit short-sighted but on the face of it, correct. They aren’t interested in you personally, at all. You are just a number, a statistic, a means to an end. They are interested in there not being individuals, one size fits all seems to what they are shooting for in the bigger picture. A formal, standard existence if you will, where there is the illusion of choice on a basic level, but everything is controlled and decided for you, like having a parent who doesn’t want you to socialise normally or have any freedom, and sure as hell don’t want you being happy. That is the type of ‘government’ we appear to have.

With the big drive to make everything digital, going cashless is a very big part of this new plan. People must realise this. The social credit system is already being used as i have said previously, we have credit ratings for loans and mortgages, bank accounts, credit cards – already excluding many people from those because of various issues that society decided deemed you ‘not good enough’. And for decades many people have continued to jump through those hoops, hoping they get approved, and not really noticing that others aren’t. A divide of opportunity has already been with us for quite some time, and people felt ‘lucky’ if they managed to work through all these systems and procedures, that they had made it. All part of the illusion I’m afraid, but it did well to separate folk. You know the ones, who look down on other family members or friends because they didn’t make the grade, or pass the exams, or get approved. Whether consciously or not, we all are brought up to believe this ‘standard of society’, to become acceptable, and ultimately gain approval and therefore be ‘allowed’ to take part in all areas of society.

That’s how it has been for decades already, with many being cast aside and labelled, left out of the main circus and kept more as a sideshow to it, and as a reason to implement ‘change’. My thoughts of where it leads are as follows once it’s all digital –

They want to stop people being able to help each other, so they will make sure you can’t buy anyone food on your account, they will make sure you can’t lend anyone money outside of your ‘unit’.

Socialising will be restricted, and even knocked back to only in designated areas where it can be fully monitored – or online, for the same. Unfortunately, many are doing that without even being asked to, only conducting their social activities online. Chose while you still can on that one.

They will monitor what you eat and decide if that is healthy enough by their standard, they will monitor what you watch and take away programs deemed not suitable. Your conversations will be monitored so they can decide whether you need re-educating to have the ‘right thoughts’. Your travel and movements will be restricted to zones you are allowed in, when they say you are allowed to. You won’t be allowed to have rights over your children, and in their vision of the future, you won’t even give birth to them, they will be grown in pods in your living room. Sounds great doesn’t it. And all of this is from their articles, plans for the world and high-profile meetings over the last few years, this is not me speculating.

If the idea is to eliminate communities as we once knew them, then destabilising towns and villages and herding people into cities works quite well, they have been doing it for a rather long time already, but in the last couple of decades it has spiralled a bit. Jobs moving out of area, moving and travelling for work was encouraged, families separated and moved apart, various social issues causing more pressures on people, families, stability.

They are not interested in joy or happiness; they are interested in productivity and commodities. And our need to have joy and happiness in our lives seems to be a thorn in their sides. So much has been imposed which is directly for holding people down and making everything just a bit shitter than before, oh but if we call if progress, then everybody just goes along with it. Well, you know what? I am sick of their version of progress, driving us all slowly into the ground and round the bend. At the whim and mercy of cold, heartless, calculated deceivers who have an ulterior motive and do not want the best for us. I find it amusing that some appear to be afraid of something because they are told to be, but are not seeing the ugly truth of what it is they should be afraid of. And currently, it really does appear that it is the people in charge who are our greatest threat.

Trying to ‘unite the world’ under the guise of a pandemic so far hasn’t worked, so they will either try again using the same method but tweaked, or go for a whole new plan. It’s anyone’s guess what that might be. But if ever there was a time to speak, to pick a side and stand firmly for what you believe to be right, it is now. Because soon it may be that there won’t be anything to stand for, as they will have you living on your knees…

There’s Nothing Great About It

It seems the current situation has indeed been misnamed. And I am loathe to use the term, but need to for the purpose of this article. The Great Reset (nicely renamed The Great Resist, which is a much better vision), but the reset, seems to be for the benefit of a few under the guise of ‘for your safety’ and ‘for the greater good’ – two sayings which should not be trusted at all. You should understand personally for your safety and should also know when it’s for the greater good yourself, not because someone else has decided it. Because it is their idea of good they are working towards, there is no collective greater good currently. It would require enough living space, freedom and advancement emotionally from a great number of people for us to achieve a greater good. So I don’t focus on that now, there is no time, and it’s just as much of an illusion as everything else.

Back to the word great. Because it has been so firmly affixed to a plan as named above, I gave it thought. Was it just to try and be grandiose and claim its great in advance, thereby trying to create said greatness by invoking it? Or is it a calling card, a trail and marker? I decided to cover others and speculate on the significance. Why were certain things named as such for a purpose, rather than for what they were? Once you see the list, you might work out where this is going.

The Great Fire of London – 1666 (oh look, a bit of symbolism there with the date), but anyway, a rather convenient fire it turns out for a London reset it seems.

The Great Depression – 1929 – 1933 officially as the worst bit (again a special number), but says it went through to the late 30’s. This seems to have been another financial reset and displacement of people.

The Great Flood – A bit further back, and no specific date on this one as it is a biblical reference, and funnily enough, throughout most ancient civilisations and legends around the world. They all have a ‘flood story’. So make of that what you will, but as we have referenced it as Great, I suspect it is relevant. And if you subscribe to the crater theory, then you may understand why it’s important.

The Great Plague – 1665-1666 (There it is again) – seems like London was having a crappy time of it back then, just before the fire neatly sorted out loads of issues, they had a plague outbreak as well. You would think the larger, previous outbreak would have been named as such, but no, they went with the last and smallest outbreak being named The Great Plague of London.

Great Britain – apparently termed in 1603 by King James I of England (you know, the one who declared witchcraft and burned all those ‘witches’), it makes me wonder why this place is named as such. Because we are a very small island to have been a huge ‘great’ empire, so I have questions on that.

The Great Famine (1845-1852) Nothing great about it at all, but they cleared out lots of people, starved lots more and obviously got what they wanted from that. Like people say, if you control the food, you control the people. On the face of it growing up, I believed it was a potato problem and people either left or starved. I hadn’t realised it was more complex and that the crown continued to have food sent out of Ireland over the mainland, thereby ensuring they starved. If history and current events teach you anything that you understand and know to be real, is that people and authority can be unbelievably cruel.

I’ll keep thinking on these as they are a work in progress, and may be just another part of history that in fact is exactly as they say, and there is nothing to see here. But maybe not…

Writing the next story

I’m not sure whether this is a hyperphantasic thing, or just being a writer thing. I tried to describe what it’s like to my husband when I’m trying focus on one thing to write. He finds it strange that I don’t do more of it, and that when I do I seem to get rather perplexed sometimes. So I broke it down as follows.

Its like having a multiple television channels all in my head, and there are episodes and films on each one, some of them short stories, some full length films. What’s frustrating is not being able to chose which channel it stops on, and not being able to keep it on that one. I explained it would be annoying if the remote control kept changing channel half way through a programme or after the first ten minutes. Well that’s my brain sometimes. I’ll get half the story, or the dramatic ending, then nothing for a while.

And when you specifically allocate time to write and sit down to access those stories, nothing. Blank screen as such. They aren’t there at my beck and call, only when they feel like it. So I can plan my creative time as much as I would like, unfortunately my creativity doesn’t always play ball. So I do my best and having a growing number of works in progress, hopefully they will pull themselves together and I can get my next book of short stories published. I have five written so far which feels like an achievement in itself, so I’ll try to build on that and get my internal remote in order and get it to settle on one story. If anything, I want to know where they go!

The Hive

What do you think of when you think of The Hive? Insects? A collective? Or maybe you go for the out there one and think of Resident Evil? I’ll explain how all those angles are correct and relevant.

We are often likened to insects. Our social structure and hierarchy involving a queen, which does seem a rather odd thing when they say men rule the world. Strange that they overlooked those women and others in power. Or did they? But it does appear that our societal structure is being pushed towards a very formal and ordered future. Why individualism and joy are hated quite so much, I don’t actually know other than they must be a threat to the overall system. Like a bug, or a glitch, that if left unchecked rages out of control and spreads, eventually crashing the system. I suspect they view us as the virus, capable of infecting their neat plan of us being drones and workers for their ‘ant farm’.

How far-fetched you might say, and indeed it may be. But I will be as far-fetched as needed from now on as things are escalating at a rather alarming pace. The squeeze they are putting on people from many angles is sinister, unyielding and relentless. And it is all manufactured by the powers that be. The real-life horrors being revealed daily to expose the corruption can’t keep up with the sheer volume of people, places, amounts, motives, conflicts of interest and other things being chucked at the senses daily. Accidental or not, they have made a complete shitshow out of society, and it may have always been on that path with this outcome as the desired result. It now makes a bit more sense why they may have wanted to flood the country with undocumented people from anywhere, because it destabilises the local communities who would ordinarily pull together and help each other through the tough times.

But they don’t want that. They want kindness gone, empathy gone, isolation being a theme, separated from your fellow man by way of fear and suspicion. Then they will bring in punishments for helping others without authorisation. Once everyone is hooked up to their social credit system, with monitored ‘money’ and authorised spend, they will know if you buy more, or something different. They will try any which way to stop people being able to fight for themselves and each other. So, what of the others in this country, the ones who are not from here but by whatever circumstances, find themselves here in the last few years. Some speculate that they will be moved to Canada and there is a general people relocation program occurring. Of which I do agree to a point, as I believe it is much easier to condition and reform, if you displace groups of people and remove/destroy their history, heritage and traditions. My idealistic mind would like to think that wherever people are from, if they find themselves here and needs must, they will fight with us. And that is me being fanciful and maybe watching too many movies where the back-up army appear as if from nowhere to join the ranks, giving the numbers needed to do what is needed.

But what if we could get some social cohesion, of understanding that we are all people and unless differences are put to one side and the similarities in us embraced for basic living, we may not be people any longer. And maybe we already aren’t, as we are currently viewed and treated as a commodity, as chattel, as property. But it would seem that we are a volatile and potentially dangerous commodity, that must be placated and controlled, so we can be ‘of use’. We are at the hands of opportunists. And if we put complete unknowns to one side, they are just people. Crazy, unhinged, disturbed people who happen to be in charge, because we continue to let them – voted for or not, if someone is no longer fit for the role, they must go. And if the role is no longer fit for purpose, then it must go too. They make no sense, lie all the time, steal from the pot, write laws to suit them as they go and people just accept that, it’s outrageous and it’s downright criminal.

They do seem rather hung up on creating augmented humans as well, and sucking us all into their weird meta-verse, so we can have ‘virtual’ lives, rather than real ones. Where we can be drones for their data, but not consuming much of the real resources that they would like to have all for themselves. They are a bit stuck though, as they haven’t quite perfected the machinery from scratch to do away with us completely, and robots aren’t quite good enough and have to be programmed still (as far as we know). So, what to do with us. There will be a time to fill before it is ready and operational, so they use that time to try and prepare us, to get people on board from the beginning so they won’t notice, add more people as you go, creasing out the glitches that arise – and by glitches, I mean people realising what is happening, people trying to unplug, or avoid it. Their goal is to “enhance human capabilities beyond the individual”. So, linking us all up to a central point? Turning us into something only functioning for the greater good rather than for the good of ourselves first? And that greater good is a standard set by people who don’t want humans being humans, and they do not like freedom of choice or individual thought, so I suspect they don’t actually know what the great good is for humanity. They want greater good for them, at the expense of us. And that is perhaps how we ended up being The Hive from resident evil. We worked above ground completely unaware of what they were up to beneath our feet. It never sat well with me that they claimed to have eradicated all these terrible things (viruses), yet kept them, safely in their possession, until needed. And possibly that is how those things really came to be, engineered for control from the start. They are creating a heartless, monitored, sterile society around us and if people don’t notice that and decide they want better, then towards it we will march…

It’s Simply Unrealistic

That line could apply to so much right now, but I’m going to focus on the cost of living, as that really does appear to be a serious pressing issue that is being forced through. It’s coming to boiling point with the stupid, idiotic and downright childish policies that have been hurried into place. Almost as if they think if they keep chucking stuff at people, they will be so busy scrabbling around to find their feet, they won’t notice. It needs everybody to just stop for a moment. To really think and then act, not react.

It seems, whether this is true or not, that we are meant to have a social contract with the government and councils.

“Council tax is the local tax which helps councils pay for the services they provide“.

Here is one of the taxes we are conditioned that we have to pay, but to me it reads as though they are a business providing a service, and getting reimbursed for it. Why do we then have no say in what the services are, or how they are delivered? Or whether we want to pay for them or not? I’m sure there are many people who would happily pay for their local areas to be maintained, but not by way of the local council first. The amount of wastage at all levels of council and government is shocking, and has been for decades. We all know.

But this last two years has seen catastrophic level of thievery and misappropriation of public funds. To me it is gross misconduct and a breach of the social contract that we have. Making it null and void. But aside from technicalities of law and the fact they write the law to protect themselves and so they can keep their greedy fingers in the pot, there are real people who will face real hardship from their fly by night decisions and laughable ‘leadership’. They care not for the normal everyday folk; they have made that much clear. It’s heart-breaking when you see how much of a pension some people are trying to live on, while at the same time handouts being given left, right and centre to people who have not contributed or worked hard at all sometimes. And in that I mean both people at home and from abroad. We are an island with a limited land mass and resources, being distributed in the most corrupt fashion, it is simply not sustainable or realistic to think it can go on and everything keep going up. Food, taxes, heating, fuel, travel etc. All at a time when we should all have enough, for everyone and to share and help others who may be in need of assistance. Because we see where it goes, we see land and money being hoarded on a level Ebeneezer Scrooge would be proud of. But really, I ask myself why.

Why do they want to make life so hard and terrible for people? Was it not bad enough that we are born into servitude and have to face a life of being herded, directed and dictated to, and pushed to where they want you to be? Now they have to put extra strain on the constantly adapting landscape, because fear and worry have all sorts of consequences, as they, and us, well know. But the extra strain and financial worry they are knowingly heaping on people for what only appears to be profit, is downright cruel. Engineering social issues and benefitting from them for the longest time, yet still managing to blame the people for it. I can only hope that as each day passes and more corruption is exposed, some good and change will come of it.

Money Doesn’t Grow On Trees

As we are told as children usually, when asking for more.

“Money doesn’t grow on trees” they said.

And they are right, it doesn’t. Or so we thought. It can’t have escaped many people’s attention that money is literally flowing like water at the moment. More than you could ever imagine being ‘spaffed up the wall’ as they would put it (‘they’ being the elected charlatans at the helm). Amounts we can hardly fathom, I’ll list a few for you for context of some items they just wrote off / spent in just the last two years.

NHS debt wiped as at April 2020 = £13.4 billion they say.

PPE that wasn’t used/up to standard = £9bn

Coronavirus support fraud = £4.3bn

Bounce back Loans they don’t expect to be paid back = £17.5bn

Eye-watering figures, aren’t they? And only a handful that I could recall seeing from the last two years, although this type of thing goes back further and covers far more than I could ever be aware of. The NHS debt being wiped is the interesting one for me (the others were completely set up in an instant to be an instant withdrawal system, as if they turned the government into an ATM for themselves and friends). Years ago, with the introduction of PFI in 1997 (Private Finance Initiatives), we changed the way the NHS operated. People purchased buildings and then rented them back to the NHS, ensuring a constant flow of money into someone else’s pockets. Turns out some notable people purchased some, using off shore accounts so that they didn’t have to pay tax on any of that rental income, and could very slowly bleed the service dry with high rents and terms – because when the public are paying for it and don’t get to check where they money ends up, it seems anything goes.

After years of being told to tighten the purse strings, austerity, cut back, recessions, higher cost of living, low wages etc. You would think there would be a limit? A final amount they are working towards or that the people could take. Nope. Just more debt, printing more ‘money’ and adding zeros to their own salaries and contracts while adding a bigger minus to your life, monetary and otherwise. I do not know the entire financial system and how it works, only a very small part of it, but within that part I deal with income and expenditure, budgeting and forecasting and overview. So, it’s not hard for me to see how we got here, and how we now have more greedy fingers in the pot than ever before with no end in sight. It was never going to be sustainable; they just used that pretence to keep it all going. They were never looking for a solution, so I stick with one of my previous sayings “The system isn’t broken, it’s exactly as they mean it to be”. And once you realise that, it does make you rather despondent towards wanting to be able to change it. It’s a different ballgame knowing you are up against a level of corruption one can only just fathom, and it’s not about systems and procedures and the good of society at all, it’s about them being in control. Of your finances, emotions, thoughts, direction in life and goals. They want us all reading from the same script, because make no mistake, they will still try to achieve what they want, but with less fuss and hassle. Because I believe that’s all they see us as, a bit of a thorn in their side.

Let’s take sheep and cattle. To minimise the hassle with cattle when taking from them what you want, there is a process of restricting them, holding them in place and making them compliant. They don’t just do it because they want to. With sheep, they use sheep dogs to round them up, and then mostly they do as they told. So, these animals fall in line because that is what they are being ‘encouraged’ to do, by way of fear, threat of or actual violence, isolation, and any other tactic we seem to employ to get what we want as humans. Even doing all the above to other humans. But for what purpose? It seems as though they want us all in a small box, consuming until we burst, spending money in their virtual world, not having person to person contact and being medicated to the max. Maybe I have missed something or I am too cynical, but in all of their plans and visions of the future, they seemed to have failed to factor in actually being human. It’s disturbing. They seem to want to change us from human being, to human doing. Augmented soldiers, becoming part of a meta verse, making normality a taboo subject. And guess what, we are paying for it, penny by penny, pound by pound. We pay for our own enslavement and to be in debt, quite ironic really. Or not really, there is no free ride, as my grandpa used to say. So in one way or another, you pay, either with actual money, or time, or emotions. They take something from you in order to then give it back. But what do you do when there is little or no return for what you put in, or you no longer require what they offer in exchange for your time and money? Well, here we are, so now we need to really think about it and decide.

What do we actually want for the future? Do we want to see our old system crumble as they have intended and be morphed into a sterile, monitored, points-based validation system? Where nothing is personal and you are not allowed to be an individual, only group mentality will be authorised. I will cover that in a bit more depth on another article in progress called The Hive, but we need a complete overhaul of our ways and systems, that much is obvious. But not by those who are currently ‘in charge’, as they are the ones who led us here in the first place and clearly cannot be trusted with our safety, security, wellbeing or future.

Not Like Us

Once you see the line-up of films, you might see where this is going. I have seen much speculation about people being a bit off, or different after recent events. And it made me think of a number of films that fit the bill.

Invasion of the body snatchers (1955 and 1978) – I haven’t seen either but the plot sounds great and I wished I had. It’s as it sounds, but how they snatch you is the interesting part. The human is put to sleep, and a replica of them grows in a pod nearby. Once the pod is fully formed, the human turns to dust and the replica is now in its place. Human looking, but void of emotions.

V (original series 1983) – only seen a few episodes of this, but it was enough. They look like us, round up our doctors and scientists who speak like us, then take us over.

Dark City (1998) – this one pops up a lot because it’s got it all. But for this theme it’s the reveal to the confused main character about what they are. The picture and quote are from this film. “We use your dead as vessels”.

They Live (1988) – A classic and of course would be in this list. Human looking beings infiltrating society and hiding a nefarious plan.

Village of the Damned (1960) – Same theme, but with children, so extra creepy.

Alien (1978) – Only because there is a time period after exposure with the characters act like normal humans. Making the difference undetected to their fellow normal humans. That seems to be the important bit in all these films, that we just can’t tell. Or if we can, we don’t know why.

The Thing (1982) – This one a shape-shifter and appearing just like the person you know. This film I suspect terrified more people than I care to imagine.

Again, there are countless others that will be about possession, infection, abduction, being altered in some way by some alternative species. So that you look like you, but you aren’t you. And infiltrating, conquering/massacring and controlling humanity seems to be running theme in all of them. Is it because it’s just an idea? A natural fear we collectively have? Or is it because deep down we know something isn’t quite right?

When Someone Else Saves The Day

We are conditioned for everything it seems, and expecting someone else to save the day is one of them, perhaps. We even have a saying ‘a knight in shining armour’ to save you. I never liked that idea, just sitting around and waiting for a hero to swoop in and save the day, whether it be a knight or a maiden. Of course, we like it in movies, it’s predictable and safe, and usually leads to a happy or at least satisfying ending. But what of those stories and the ones in particular I have selected for my usual rundown.

Robin Hood – I would consider this known by most, so goes top of the list. The classic tale of wrongdoing and justice for the people, in the most peasant revoltish kind of way possible. And they won. So we are told that he was a myth, a legend and these days maybe just a money maker.

William Wallace (Braveheart) – again, we are led to believe there was someone so passionate about their beliefs, countrymen and way of life, they managed to rally an army of followers, but ultimately failed. That’s the kind of hero they want you to see, the one who sacrifices themselves, and still loses.

Boudicca – One of our rare female heroes in history that apparently rose up and fought back, only to then be killed, of course.

Guy Fawkes – Another famous one that has been allowed to persist in its telling and in fact commemorated each year still to this day, the same tale over and over. So close, but they too failed.

Those are all apparently real people (maybe not Robin Hood), from our past on this small Island, but the fact we have stories like that leads me to two conclusions.

a) These people did exist and overthrew what was then in place, but after victory time passed and although their names persisted, the stories could be re-written to show they didn’t win. Couldn’t have the peasants getting above their station and believing in themselves.

b) Or they are part truths or perhaps completely fabricated stories to try to instil in our collective psyche that we will always lose if we fight back. Either conclusion ultimately gives the same result.

So I ask myself, what advantage would that give the programmers? Having a people not believing in their own collective power and what they are capable of could be a handy tool if you wanted to hold people down, and decide what they are allowed to know. Knowledge is power as they say.

There are also a number of films, even though many films have been made of most of the above, and there will be countless others I don’t mention.

Terminator Films (John Conner) – The central character of these films being the one to save the day and bring an end to the turmoil.

Poseidon Adventure (The Preacher) – I have only watched the 1972 film for this, but thought it was great. Someone trying so hard to save people, showing courage in the face of adversity, only to die at the end himself, but he did save some. It wasn’t all for nothing in the end.

And there are other movies, where we are led to believe that there is only one who can save everyone. The One.

The Matrix – Neo

Star Wars – Luke Skywalker

Harry Potter – Harry Potter

Lord of the Rings – Frodo, but Tolkien did a switch there, because Frodo wasn’t the one or the hero after all, he failed, and Sam was the hero, not because he was chosen, but because came through when it was needed most.

But in all those films, they didn’t just do it by themselves, they had friends and something to fight for. And it may sound as corny as the films do sometimes, but love, friendship and what is right in this world is worth fighting for and believing in.
