The calendula plant is in full swing now, so I’m taking a few flowers every day to dry for salves. Leaving a good number each day for the bees and insects

I didn’t snip a few heads so they go to seed. But one appears to have mutated, and sprouted multiple new heads 😁😬 the plant that just keeps on giving.

Another new one which is really helpful for achy muscles, made from calendula oil, chamomile oil and coconut oil with rosemary, peppermint, lemon and sweet orange essential oils.

Today’s forage for salve ingredients was good.

A little dash of yellow appeared and within a day the daffodil was open. The calendula has been holding the garden up with a spot of colour all winter, now has some company. Looking forward to this year’s brightness already 💛

This little beauty has appeared, I’m suprised at how many flowers there still are or this time of year. Its a bit blustery today, but I’ll try and grab a few pics tomorrow to brighten up the timelines a bit. If not, I have plenty from the summer to bring out 🙂

I love this flower very much.

It dawned on me that I frequently see pictures of crab spiders hiding under the petals of flowers, so thought I would go and give the calendula a look. It really is the flower that keeps on giving. There it was, just hiding under the petals as expected. I had to wait for it to come out, and contend with a very windy day. Nothing was staying still, but still I tried.

He didn’t seem happy once he spotted me and I have to give up and come back later. We was there for a couple of days until the flower was spent, so I did get my opportunity for a good shot.

This time he didn’t seem to mind being photographed and just waited, I was most pleased.

This little bee stopped for a clean and a rest today on the calendula. It was awesome to watch.
