It’s catchy, isn’t it? Making you think they may reveal something you didn’t know, but the twist is deep down you knew all along. Morpheus really was a great as a character. As they all were, and that film was as iconic as it was meant to be.
But what if I were to tell you that where you think freedom is being fought for, is actually in The Matrix, not outside it as the movie would portray. A construct, meticulously controlled, with agents infiltrating the system and eliminating those not needed. Twitter seems very much like that these days (and possibly other social media but I can’t comment on those), where you ‘plug in’, can be any personality you like, pretend to be cool, or famous, or a victim, or whatever you want. With a constant threat apparently of one’s trying to shut you down, or throw you out of their matrix or ‘take away your voice of opinion’. Weird really. It’s less a social place and more of a strategic enterprise, especially with it being revealed to have meddled in sharing of rather vital information at an incredibly pivotal time. Where the system showed itself to already be firmly intertwined with reality.
Because the social media sites and information gathering tool of the internet, were just an extension of a system already in place. One which has been creating our reality and what we thought were significant events and continues to teach us a version of history we are meant to learn. Programming us to be a certain way, to think a certain way, or to act a certain way. Seems like the wheels are coming off that one a bit in the real world. Cracks appear and the facade doesn’t appear as tidy as it once was. The drugs aren’t strong enough it seems to fully dull the senses anymore and make the steak taste as good as it used to. Well, not to everyone anyway.
But while it may well be ‘we have been down that road before, and we know where it goes’, we have not been down it with new eyes and thought. So, is it the same road as before? And just because you take what appears to be different road, you can still end up in the same place. Going round in laborious circles within the construct, as it adapts and monitors you throughout. Break free from the matrix, so you can have ‘freedom’ within the matrix is how it seems to be painted. Funny really. And as the ‘agents’ control things like infiltrating people, setting agendas, deleting ‘programs’ they don’t like or are now obsolete in their mind, it becomes its own monster. Maybe that’s why Smith went quite mad in the end, the never-ending cycle of bullshit set on a loop. And whether it would be his victory or not, maybe he just wanted it to end. And it did, with the architect carrying on, and it all starting again, as it will time and time again, I’m sure. Because there is always an architect for things like these, someone pulling strings and dropping a stone in the pond every now and again for cause and effect. But that we know, it’s just I can’t help wondering what stone they’re going to drop next, and just what effect they are looking for…
They made a big point about it in the film. If you die in The Matrix, you die in the ‘real world’ because your brain doesn’t recognise the difference. Maybe that’s why death is such a weird thing to us, because we have no reference point for it, you just aren’t here anymore. And that’s the thing, traces of that person are still there, things they owned, people they loved and who loved them (in best cases), a legacy left behind whether it be by way of family, or money or achievement. Some people fear not having any of those things to leave a mark with, leaving nothing to show you were even there. And I’m sure there have been many that fall into that category. But what if it was the other way round. You don’t die, but everything is taken away from you as if you had, your existence is wiped out, while you are still alive? All because the computer says no. I’ll do a film list again as I think it illustrates my point, and where lots of these ‘new systems’ seem to be headed.
Enemy of the State (1998) – a very good example of what happens when you are in the way of something the government is up to, and the lengths they may go to eliminate you, or removed you from being able to function in everyday life. By freezing bank accounts, tapping phone lines, using satellites to monitor and pursue a person. All because they knew something which could incriminate people doing wrong. Put forward as fiction, but you can very easily see the problem when you watch it.
Hackers (1995) – another good example of what can go wrong with technology being wielded by those who have nefarious agendas. But it is tech people who save the day, by using their own tools against them, but the main point for this film, was one thing mentioned in it. As a threat in fact to try and bribe someone, showing that they could digitally alter someone’s image to match a name and details of a criminal, have them arrested, and then change the picture back, so that they are then ‘lost in the system’. It may seem like a small thing, but an awfully important one. If you can’t prove who are because a computer says otherwise, and is treated as more trustworthy than a human (despite being designed and programmed by a human in most cases), then what chance do we have? We have already had the rise of the machines, and were we too lazy to even notice, let alone resist or ‘fight back’?
Eagle Eye (2008) – a national security computer goes rogue and sort of pretends to be a person in order to get people to do things, communicating through telephone, text and email, ordering things and setting up locations and instructions. All very weird, but a good film. But again, as with the next film, highlights how something programmed by a human, and is set with limited parameters will not be to our betterment, in my opinion.
iRobot (2004) – another where the initial programming by a human is taken very literally by a robot created to save us all from ourselves, who then unleashes a robot attack to control people ‘for their own good’ because we are so destructive. But that film is mentioned here for its coordination of said robot army, all connected by a central hive link, all marching to the same drum. If they get to monitor all your conversations, and always listen, as well as talk silently themselves, how would you know?
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) – Hal. Need I say more?
There is something very sinister about a person trying to be your overseer, and be in control of your every move, deciding what to ‘allow’ or ‘deny’ you, so why would it be any less creepy because it is a mechanical representation of a humanistic ideal. Robots are already intertwined with our current society, just the faceless ones behind the scenes, the programmes and the AI they have running things or involved. But now they want them to have faces, and legs and some kind of presence right alongside you. Taking away the personal human approach, which to be fair, has been on the downturn for a while and not entirely by accident. Hoping maybe that people will gladly accept any company, even robotic, if they have been starved of proper human interaction for long enough. And then it becomes the go to for comfort, and people become less familiar. Perhaps. But the powers that be already do, and will continue to hide behind technology and systems, seeming incapable when the computer says no, to understand what you mean when they say the computer is wrong. That won’t even be a thing in their future. It will never be wrong as long as it is rigged in their favour. The camera never lies as they used to say…
Two categories that we are apparently set for, or have been set for us. And recently it couldn’t be clearer that we are viewed as A Commodity when useful to them, and a burden when not. So, they seem to view us as either a useful idiot, when we are in our prime, or well-placed to further a cause, and then become useless eaters if then in need of housing, care or assistance. And it seems that term is no longer just reserved for the elderly – I was quite shocked though to hear it first from my elderly grandparents, who saw it as a practical comment. I did not, and it led to many a conversation about how people are viewed in society, and what is considered ‘useful’ from a corporate ideal. And I get it if you are that type of person, why you might think like that, I really do. But as with many things, it just lacks heart, and it shows. A cold-hearted society may be a practical one, and even efficient in terms of productivity to a point, but doesn’t lead to any form of contentment or happiness. But those things don’t seem to be considered or cared about in reality, only in theory and for the purposes of trying to sell you things and ideas to make it seem so, because if it was in fact paramount that people should be healthy, happy and content first, and profit, products and Consumerism came second, we would be in a very different place. But we aren’t. We are here.
I have mentioned in many articles how it would appear to be a systematic breakdown and change of society, It seems an attack covers much of this, but there was also a darker side being revealed throughout this last few years. Touched on in a few articles, It looked sinister, More than sinister, and It’s big business, but even now it continues and gets worse as time goes on. The push to offer people medically assisted death is on the increase, conveniently after they have put something out onto the market which can cause a terrible chain of events that may lead someone to feeling like that. A few cases of people doing it just because they have mental illness is a bit of a shocker now that it is offered, I’m now used to that level of sinister, but not that people chose it. Or do they? Is it just an idea that is put there like so many others, then all roads are narrowed towards it, steering you in that direction which you would have never found your own way to? I wonder. But it seems it’s the commonwealth countries mainly shouting about it, Canada making headlines now with it, but last year it was New Zealand, and there was talk of it two years ago in the UK. They are making so much money out of sickness and death it’s obscene. But as I have pointed out before, by allowing people to die what we would consider prematurely, it frees up lots of resources and assets in the eyes of the government. Why do you think they wanted The Digital Doomsday Database? Because then they can run the numbers and probably work out that if they remove lots of pensioners, hey, no pensions to pay, and their property and assets can either be taken, or made to go back into society. It’s shocking how much money is made from elderly people in care homes, and that there is a great incentive to put them there, drain their resources if they had any, and then quietly get rid of them. Some people it seems have been investigating for years and trying to reveal the fact that care homes, doctors, lawyers and officials are all in on it in some cases, facilitating vast sums of profit from making sure someone gets put in a home, and cannot deal with their own affairs thereafter, sometimes being drugged into compliance, my article Security goes into that a little more if interested. If you don’t think they would do that to old people, think again. If they are willing to drug children at school for the sake of making them fit the mould, I have no hesitation in thinking they would do the same to old people, who in their eyes are no longer fit, and are being an obstacle to profits and material wealth. Hell, even family members sometimes view their own like that, so again, is it so hard to believe that someone who has never met you and has dollars in their eyes, may view you as such?
And it’s not just pensioners now and children who are being targeted for their vulnerabilities, it’s all age groups, for various reasons. Creating new waves of illnesses, problems and dependency, destabilising the economy and well and truly upsetting the applecart as one might say. Bringing more vulnerabilities out in people, making sure there will be a new generation beholden to their tightly woven net of society, where they can tie you in and make sure you always have to keep coming back to them, with your cap in hand like little orphan Oliver saying ‘Please sir, can I have some more’. They are even talking of taking people out of the breeding process to a point, with babies that can grown in pods, covered in (Pod life). Detached from an early point, in more ways than one. But currently it would appear that whatever role you play in society, you still fall into the two categories in the eyes of ‘them’. And when you have served your purpose, there are rumours that useful idiots don’t always get to become useless eaters, because they know too much. And many of the useful idiots don’t even know they are one, and seem shocked when someone else points it out to them. Whether that is genuine shock or just part of the act, who knows, but finding out you have been used as a pawn or weapon without your knowledge must be quite unsettling if you hadn’t realised up until then.
But whether they think we are one or the other, they still model lots of things around that premise, seeing us a targets, goals and percentages. And the most import thing to them, profit and money. How much do we cost? How much can they save? How much is enough or too much? They appear to be working to margins, and we are one of them. Talking about scaling back, net-zero, more targets and goals to reduce this, and stop that. Quite the opposite from what the captains of industry apparently stood for. But while they talk of it, and show pretty charts with almost childish overlays of future cities, they hold expensive fuel guzzling presentations around the world to ‘discuss it’, and want to be seen as the ones in charge of these decisions. Taking something by stealth, rather than by force. They need volunteers to make these things work, it has to appear a certain way, otherwise it doesn’t work. Think of the film Logans Run, where everything was just fine until people started asking questions, and curiosity tore it all down in the end. But I wondered about how they got to that point, in the domed city in the first place. In the upgraded similar storyline of The Island, we are led to believe they are all grown down there and know no different (in pods I might add, so make of that what you will). So, what if in Logans Run, they all voluntarily went into the city, and shunned the outside world, as they were told too. Aeon Flux is another interesting film for a society living in a enclosed city, also with some power deluded people at the helm. It’s a feature of many films, and not one that should be overlooked, because while we may view movies of an exaggerated version of real life, or sometimes just a purely fictional story, there is often a thread of truth running through them all or give you a thought that sometimes should be followed. And it may well be that it leads nowhere, and means nothing, but sometimes it might mean something, and unless you follow it, how will you know…
They have been laying them for quite some time. As you might lay machinery under the ground, waiting for what appears to be a bolt of lightning to activate them and let them rise up and take shape. But what if that ‘machinery’ wasn’t clunky metal as we might know it or think of it, but what if it was thoughts, ideas and scenarios. Activating a mechanism of imagery and fear to achieve a desired result. Many have talked of an alien invasion for years, of if there are aliens, are we alone in the universe and all that. Careers have been dedicated to them, special secret branches of government apparently allocated for it, books written, TV programs made, and movies churned out whenever a reminder of an outside threat needs to be reinforced. I’ll mention the most classic one, and a benchmark in this project in my mind.
War of the Worlds. In all its forms, is quite a story. But it’s the radio show I’ll mainly refer to here, which was run as a Halloween special on October 30th 1938. And if the reactions to it are true, it had quite an impact, causing people to apparently believe that there was in fact an alien invasion taking place, and they were in fact, hearing it. I guess the imagination did the rest to accompany a compelling rendition of the tale. Was it a test run? To prime people’s thoughts for a later fear? In the late 1800’s there were many a horror and science fiction story going around, yet we are told many were illiterate around that time, so who were these books and stories really for? Was it always mean to be a continuous cycle of fictional invasions and doom, apparent wars thrown in here and there, and more and more ‘history’ of disaster, wars and death by way of huge catastrophe or external forces causing our destruction. Some of the films that spring to mind are
Imdependence Day – the obvious one I’m sure.
X-Files – the movie and the series in general, making the idea seems as plausible as possible.
Cloverfield – An odd film, but still one of grand visuals and lots of panic.
War of the Worlds Film – makes an impact watching it for sure, and puts that extra fearful idea partially in mind. They were already here.
After that, there are many where it is localised invasion, or visitation or abduction. Various different ways for you to imagine your world and life being turned upside down by something that is so terrifying and strange, that you probably like to think you would always react like the people in the movies do. And run or fight back. But what of the movies where the enemy looks just like everyone else? People don’t always fight back, or even notice it’s their enemy until it’s too late. And maybe it suits a purpose for people to be worried about an unseen, unknown force that may or not even exist or ever be in their reality. Because while you are concerned and looking out for what appears to be an over-the-top entrance and announcement of doom and enslavement from an alien race, you don’t notice the quiet and stealthy approach for the same result, from your what appears to be your own.
It’s funny really, when I think of the last few years and the overwhelming push online, to show that everything will be digital. Including people and lives. As I’ve said before, and this should not be overlooked in its implications, but we are no longer consumers in the old sense, we are becoming products to be consumed by the corporations. My piece Consumerism goes into that a bit more.
But what amused me, is while telling us how it’s all going to be great, a technical revolution in fact, everything digital and electric, and you will just be a set of data codes to run along inside that. We are also being told how unsafe and perilous it all is. Cyber-attacks, power cuts, supply chain issues, financial collapse, even of the crypto currencies it would seem. Your accounts can be hacked and you can be frozen out if they don’t like you, or there is a simple glitch. Like saying come and live in this straw house, it’s totally safe. Oh, but now it’s moving day, I need to let you know it is prone to catching fire. You would think again, wouldn’t you? Or someone advising you to get married, telling you that person is great, oh, but hang on, by the way they’ve cheated on you and you’ll have to get divorced pretty quickly after. Again, you wouldn’t do it. Well, I like to think people wouldn’t.
Unfortunately, while some of the above is being implemented whether we like it or not, that is not to say it will work, because we are still required to perform a function. Monopoly doesn’t play itself, and it can’t only work with just a banker, so it needs the ‘players’ to make it work, that’s us. And some of them obviously, but they make sure they have Mayfair and Park Lane sewn up, and we get a small piece of Whitechapel and Old Kent Road, if you get my meaning. And when you see a representation of when someone gets really pissed off, playing forever and losing all the time, and they suddenly stand up and flip the board to ruin the whole thing and storm off, it ends the game doesn’t it? Obviously, I know we can’t just tip the board upside down, life is slightly more complex, but you can make it so that you are not such an integral part of making all these new systems they want permanent, if you really don’t like them. As with much past and present, they like to create and maintain an illusion of something, and if the mind should choose not to delve or think beyond the facade, then it works just fine. But like those fake house frontages in Leinster Gardens in London, sometimes it really does appear as it should, fitting in to the normal eye, but behind it is something far different. Also think Truman Show, when he breaks from his routine and enters a building, and the actors then scramble to remove him and hide from view what gives it away. Kind of like how it seems when something revealing and often has a thread of truth gets posted online, and there is a sudden rush to declare it ‘misinformation’, or to discredit it. But to be honest, if it is a dead end and not true, then what does it matter if someone gives it time and thought? It’s their choice to, and if it goes nowhere and shows nothing, then what’s the harm? But if it does go somewhere, and there is something to reveal, well, there would be a reason to want to derail or halt someone’s line of questioning or thought, wouldn’t there?
So, while some people may think everything is as it seems, and those pushing new products and social changes just want better for everyone, there are others who do and will continue to think differently. To look at the overall purpose or financial gain that might be achieved by such a move, or how it could be used for nefarious purposes, and given what we have seen already, I believe that is the best way to think…
Monarch. An interesting subject and quite awash with names, faces, places, dates and the apparent programming. But it was suggested somewhere that it’s not even as it seems. What is these days? But people thinking there is a secret mind control program going on within the not so secret one in society, serves a purpose. Of extra manipulation of thought, to seem as though you are ‘all powerful’, to create paranoia. And decades after it was apparently running, it still gets talked about, MK Ultra being the one I hear about the most.
And it seems quite easy really, because lots of the people whose names pop up as allegedly tied to certain programmes are in fact actors. So is it so hard to think that maybe, those actors are also playing the role of themselves. You think they are not in character when seen in interviews, or talking about their life. But it’s easy to imagine they know the script, and props and family are provided to make it seem authentic. Just like they do it the movies, but it’s just an ongoing role. And if anyone gets caught out, or goes a bit astray, it’s put down to a mental breakdown, or that they were being controlled. Again, convenient and means the ‘character’ can still remain in the public eye.
Whether they are real people or not, or whether they are controlled or not almost seems irrelevant these days. It’s what they ‘achieve’ that is of note. Being part of a massive emotive industry that feeds off of attention and energy, as well as money. I’ve already mentioned in Public eye or evil eye?, that it seems many waste their lives dreaming of fame and fortune that only seems to be bestowed upon certain people. With backgrounds that make them seem like normal folk to a point, but that also appear well crafted and again, convenient. But maybe I’m just too cynical, as has been said before. But I just blindly believed it all before, because it took no effort on my part, nothing to think through because it seemed perfect.
But that’s the problem, on the TV and through mediums of media, it all seems perfect, even when it’s a disaster, it goes exactly as it should. Not in real life though, on the ground in everyday trials and tribulations. I wondered if that’s added to society being weirder than it should. People trying to emulate the ‘perfect’ they see on TV or read about, and it just isn’t attainable. Despite how easy it may look or is made to look. The reality is often not that at all, and I guess can lead to a problem for some, where expectation and reality fail to meet. Or just maybe there are a few who do really ‘make it’ and strike it lucky as they say, I would like to think so, but it’s looking less likely.
But I guess even the fact that I give it time and thought, means it’s worked to a point. Maybe the mind control isn’t supposed to be on the celebrities that get ‘discovered or uncovered’. Perhaps it’s us that are the unknowing ones having things planted in mind, and things to ‘trigger us’ when required, by those very people we are supposed to feel sorry for, who we are told are ‘being controlled’. A truth wrapped in a lie, of which there are many, so I guess it’s down to each of us to work them out as best we can. Wouldn’t it be nice if life was just life, without all the mystery cloak and dagger crap to wade through, I get the feeling there are other exciting mysterious things we should be getting on with.
A debate that is not new, but has found new ground in recent months on the internet, in the Roe vs Wade case, and in ongoing tooing and froing between people of different opinions and reasonings behind them. But I can’t help thinking in all the talk, some of it directed towards women being seen as murderers, said a person who pops up now and again on the internet with a significant reach and audience of what appear to be real people. It was said that he thinking women having an abortion is as bad as man being a rapist. Strange I thought, that he doesn’t use a similar comparison, with one of death. But instead chooses to liken it to an act, that in itself can cause a situation where some women find they are impregnated from, and then chose to take steps to severe all ties with that man.
I try and understand why some do and some don’t, some may be able to move past that terrible act, and give life, and maybe some don’t want to feel tied to that soul through another, even if they are a long gone horrible moment of a soul. The reaction towards it from others, is something to behold. But it feels like there is more to it, not necessarily from the people with reactions and opinions, I get that, and they are fully entitled to them whether I agree with them or not. But the strange endless stream of establishment things to be involved in the process of procreation, from social rules and etiquette, to judgements and family pressures, pharmaceuticals to help you get pregnant, and to stop it. And then comes the real bone of contention, the medical interventions to halt an ‘unwanted’ pregnancy. It seems like a normal thing to have right?
Maybe not so much when you read about planned parenthoods objectives and methods of controlling certain populations, and various things that have gone on under the radar mostly. And we have to mention the booming industry surrounding abortion, and the purchase and use of the tiny little baby parts and sometimes fully formed babies that they use for testing, and creating vaccines, and other ‘medicinal procedures’. It’s quite horrific, what they do and how they evidently must view people, children and babies. As expendable products, and you know what, some of us can see it and feel it everywhere. But not every loss of an unborn child is down to a deliberate act, not everyone has a smooth ride, and complications can arise at any time, with nature sometimes stepping in apparently to see fit to end it at a certain point with a miscarriage. People don’t seem to blame the woman then, don’t have a go that her body decided to reject the fetus, but when it is her mind doing it, there appears to be questions that others have, even if it might not be their place to ask them perhaps.
It makes me think of Shiva though – “Shiva is known as a creator, protector, and destroyer. Destruction and creation are inextricably linked”. Having the power to create, protect and destroy seems the kind of power a man wouldn’t want a women to have, even though it is women who have all given birth to men (as far as we know), that doesn’t mean they are happy about it. Maybe that’s why there is talk of growing fetus’s in pods – my article Pod life for a little more on that, and turning girls into boys, removing their reproductive organs. And for boys who want to be girls, well, it limits their ability to ever have children as well, so would definitely limit the gene pool as they might say. There have been sterilisation programs here and there over the years, and it may well be that it is the ability to breed that they are trying to quash, rather than just people in numbers directly, who really knows. That is still conspiracy theory at this point.
It was all there from the beginning; otherwise, how could so many have known to avoid it? But I gave it more thought, and do regularly, to wonder how so many didn’t see it, or didn’t want to see it. What was the first point that should have sounded the biggest alarm? The nurse, Tiffany Dover. That very first live shot, closely followed by a live collapse, and no word thereafter apart from speculation and mystery. Now, I cannot say for sure that she wasn’t an actor, or a genuine nurse, and if she recovered or not, or even had the shot, because I don’t know. But it was the effect of that event that set it all in motion for lots of people in my mind. If people saw that, and still did it, then may God help them I thought, and I’m not even religious. Because that seemed like a weird marker, or test. But one of IQ, not of health. They believe what they see on TV, but can’t fully relate to being that person, clearly. Or instant disassociation from it, as if it didn’t happen, or was a bad ‘episode’ of a TV show. And it was, just not in the way you might think.
I wrote about my speculations along the way in various articles about why something seemed very off, with So much is wrong about this and many others. And after people starting lining up and rolling up their sleeve, followed that up with It looked sinister, and More than sinister, as well as countless others. Because it seemed so obvious, to me and to many others, and I couldn’t help thinking that of the people who weren’t quite sure, who’s alarm bells had gone off, then got caught in a personal decision dilemma. Is the other person, or side, right? I can see why it was likened to mass psychosis, i did another piece called Mass Psychosis or Run Around? to go into that a bit more as well at the time.
But trying to unravel why and how people made those decisions, may seem past the point, but I keep coming back to it, because if people can be so easily bamboozled and led astray, what’s to say it won’t happen again. That with a carefully crafted script, actors and props, followed by a coordinated media and propaganda campaign, you can achieve all sorts of things, or even just the appearance of them. Because if people think you did it, what does it matter if you did or didn’t. And it seems that there needs to be a continuous need and demand for ‘health boosters’ so I don’t actually think it is past the point. More money yet still being spent on further production, labs, factories, biological agents in vials as well as biological agents that walk among us. Like the agents in The Matrix, but they dress like us, look like us, and are us, but they are also them. That’s why I say actors, because they play their role as they are meant to, and we only seem to think of viruses and nasty little concoctions created in labs when it comes to bio agents, but to me I think of infiltrators, the ones who are there to be a virus in society, helping to shape and steer it the way they would like. I’ve said it before, but imitate to infiltrate is a well-known tactic, so it will be what appears to be people in normal positions of society that are placed for cause and effect. Maybe that’s why it seems that across the board ‘normal’ teachers, doctors, police, politicians and all sorts of areas at all levels of society are pushing ordinary people towards a primary goal. It is also entirely possible that many have just been captured mentally by fear, and are now fully enslaved to it, waiting for further information and instructions to be able to get through their life, but I can’t help feeling that it how it is being made to look…
It may seem like a little thing, and one of a strange automated compliance, first for clanging pots, then for clapping, now for turning lights off at a specified time – all in the evening at the same time. Interestingly though, I only saw mention of them on the internet, because without TV and newspapers, how would I know? Same with many other things, if you didn’t have the internet on, it would pass by, unknown, which in itself is amusing, because while on the internet, many are talking about how newspapers are whipping up fear, and perpetuating things to be riled up by and afraid of. Overlooking somewhat their role in it too. There is fine line between sharing information to make people aware, and constantly wanting people to feel like you do, and knowing when to just walk away from it or stop being the facilitator of that information.
I’m going to use the latest stunt as the main example, Christmas lights. It seems to have got people talking, job one done, got lots riled up it seems (although who knows how many of those were bots), job two done, and rather than ‘do what they were asked’, some talked about doing the opposite. Instead of turning off your Christmas lights, some people said they would be putting more up, or turning on every light in the house ‘just to show them’. Job three done. Reaction. Because either reaction means they have got to you, and are influencing you, and then in turn you influence others, on their behalf.
I can’t really fathom why people wanted to publicise it for them to be honest, or maybe they don’t realise that’s what they are doing, furthering the cause in their own way, thinking they are going against it – or as some would say, they are shilling and doing exactly what they are there to do. But by engaging with it so much, talking about it in the lead up and keeping it going in the immediate time after, is still being part of it, even though claiming to not be, by not ‘doing as they were told’. But they still get a result because the articles were shared, suggested to each other what to do that would be the opposite of the ‘request’ but at the same time of day. Odd to behold to be honest, because it means you are still playing their game, just thinking it’s on your terms. But what they wanted is people talking, sharing and reacting to the silly and distracting things. Taking your energy still, and tying up your time being outwardly enraged, or frustrated, or trying to show indifference, but still reacting as they would like. Sometimes I think it is best to just ignore it and not join in, at all, but maybe that’s just me. Work out what is beneficial for someone to see or know about, or not. Otherwise, you just end up being the free extra little messenger, on top of the paid propaganda machine, helping to fuel and promote the distraction and actually giving it energy to become what it was meant to. Social media can be used for good, or bad, and the key is with the user, not the controller, for now. And they say you get out what you put in, so if you put in drama and rage, guess what, it gets amplified and seems to create more drama and rage, age old formula, with a new much larger reach. So, be mindful of your thoughts and what you put into it, or at least don’t be surprised if that’s what comes back towards you.
It can be difficult though, not to react, I get that, especially when there has been so much damage to the economy behind the scenes, and people have lost loved ones. But when you go outside, it still looks the same mostly, no visible sign of any destruction at all. Cars are still driving around, shops are still selling goods, and people are still buying them. And before these last few years, we still had drama, and the economy was failing, just with a myriad of different excuses, austerity, Brexit, previous politicians, policies, wars, etc. No-one really accepting we’re in the shit, and just sorting it out, and the more time you waste trying to blame someone, the less time you are spending sorting it out. I certainly do agree with finding the cause of the issue and removing or resolving it, but not then to sit around discussing why and how you removed it, that would be silly, you should have done that first. If you catch my drift.
Knowing when and how to react, is becoming even more important than it ever was. Because now there are carefully placed and timed things to be there as buttons, to ‘trigger’ people into action or reaction, but both with a premeditated idea of what the result of either will be. And being aware of what to react to is equally important, and like I said, when to not react at all. It’s easy to get caught up in someone else’s reaction to things too, and some people demand others to be involved in theirs, so it really is a tricky road. Because are you just going along with something? Is it someone else’s strong reaction to something that helps to solidify or encourage yours? Or are those feelings from you, and how you feel and have perceived things?
We all know people say and do things just for said reaction to them, either for attention, or as ‘click-bait’ these days. And it can work on bigger things too, as we have seen since the rise of the internet, like the pond effect. Drop a big stone in water, and see the ripples, and the long after effects still causing a disturbance. Same with little stones, just less of an effect. Now, I know we know what the analogy represents, but I will spell it out from my view. Society is the pond, we as people are the water, and the media and entertainment industry are the stones. And the establishment are the ones selecting, holding and dropping the stones any time the surface looks to be calming or stabilising. Much harder to tread water or find your feet if there’s waves always crashing around you.
So sometimes, if you remove yourself from the centre, where the worst of it is, you can get to the edge, find a little bit of calm and take a moment. To just breath, and think, and take stock of you, where you are and how you feel, without other people’s thoughts and feeling being thrust upon you first. Then maybe at least, if you do react to something, it’s because you are meant to and for the right reasons, not because you are being made to.
What is it you are afraid of? Your surroundings? Your government? Are you afraid to be yourself? If you answer yes to any of those questions, do you ask yourself why that is? I have written a few pieces on fear, covered in Sensing fear, but wanted to look at the words behind it, and how we use them to express what we think it is that we are feeling. And how others then see and may perceive that differently.
Afraid – “feeling fear or anxiety; frightened”.
Are you hesitant, apprehensive, scared? We have many words for this, but with those words also comes different meaning – which can be interpreted differently by people. As we know. Anxiety is also put in there, which seems to be a big thing these days, and to be honest, I get it, there is much to be anxious about, and not entirely by accident I feel. Because we humans are prone to feelings, and we have internal alarm systems that not everyone is aware of, or have not quite harnessed yet. Triggers to tell you something is wrong, feelings to alert you to possible dangers or just to keep a look out. Surely that’s normal? So, at what point is it deemed not normal? Enough so to whip out a prescription book and make sure those feelings are numbed, or suppressed, or removed altogether. We know that prescription drugs can have all sorts of side effects, covered in An error, but a big one, but further to that, I wonder if by turning off or supressing the natural instinct and workings, that in itself could create a type of anxiety or at least an internal reaction. Like driving at night and the lights on the car start to get dimmer and dimmer, and then stop working. But the car still runs, and you have to keep driving, but whereas with light and seeing where you are going, it was easy. Suddenly, it’s dark and perilous, doesn’t feel safe, so your heart level goes up, you start sweating, your breathing shallows to cope with the extra concentration needed to just drive. And you don’t know how long the road is, if it will get light again, or if you could steer off into a river, or a cliff at any moment. So, you grip the steering wheel, so tightly you think your fingers will break and you might stop breathing just from the overwhelming sense of dread. Unfortunately, that can describe either being dulled out of life by drugs, or simply just by life itself, anxiety can be caused by life, and by not experiencing it properly. It’s tough, and definition of words, their meanings, and what follows on from that is important too.
Phobia – “an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something”
Now this is quite puzzling to me to have two different meanings within that definition, which is where I believe we get confused when people say that can’t be a phobia, because there is no irrational fear, just dislike. Meaning they, as I, didn’t fully understand there was a double meaning going on there.
Aversion – “a strong dislike or disinclination”
Disinclination – “a reluctance or lack of enthusiasm.”
Strange isn’t it to have such different meanings when it would seem clear cut, phobia to me should mean irrational fear, aversion should mean strong dislike. Even disinclination means two things, being reluctant, or lacking enthusiasm. And again, those two can come from very different places within someone’s mindset or thought process. Reluctant being more hesitant, and lacking enthusiasm to me meaning can’t be bothered, or isn’t motivated towards it. So, when we think we understand what we are saying when we use those words, and what others are saying, may indeed be quite different. Which is why being able to effectively communicate what you think, and understanding what it means is important. Because when you believe you are saying one thing, using the correct and clear words, someone else may be hearing something else entirely.
An Alan Greenspan quote springs to mind on this
“I know you think you understand what you thought I saidbut I’m not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant“
So, can you perhaps see why it can be very easy to miscommunicate with someone, unless you are taking the time to understand as well as convey your own thoughts and feelings. Many suffer from impatience when it comes to others talking, and I wonder sometimes if it is because they are not paying attention and would rather be somewhere else, are perhaps not fully understanding the conversation, or could be they are just plain rude. It’s tricky working out which one it is sometimes without just coming out and asking, so I do ask, because if I am taking the time to talk to someone, I do not want my time wasted, or theirs, so it needs to be a beneficial exchange.
And recently, words have been weaponized and redefined, making it even harder for some people to communicate without being able to navigate the way in which they are supposed to talk and think according to society at the time. This is why I wonder if there are more people who are afraid to be themselves than we realise, fearing the repercussions of having their own opinion, own ideas, own perspective, own identity, because it will be shouted down, ridiculed or persecuted. So, maybe it seems easier to just follow the crowd, be seen as a parrot, or be ‘sheep’ as people often call the masses, as they can just get on and get by, without too much fuss. Don’t Rock The Boat they say. But what if you are sat in someone else’s boat, and you don’t want to be there? You can see your boat just over there, waiting for you to take you on your adventure, yet here you are stuck in someone else’s, being talked at, told what to do, with no end in sight, and for no good reason. Suddenly the saying don’t rock the boat doesn’t seem so applicable does it, because with that thinking, you’ll never get to your boat, if you get my meaning. And when people say things like, we are all in the same boat, I often think what a clever way to get people instantly ‘on board’, you see, they have other words to make the metaphor even more meaningful. Yet, I still saw though it and realised that it was their boat, and their direction, meaning you are only a shipmate and being taken along for a ride. You can never be the captain of someone else’s ship, remember that. And when it comes to being afraid, I get it, it can be daunting to be at the helm of your own life, being the centre piece, the lead role and the director and the writer, all the time. And I understand why people sometimes might want to be an extra, or a bit part, or behind the scenes and not have or take any responsibility. But I also understand that some people who relish the leading role, will want their own extras, locations, props and people to run around helping to make them the star in their own life, which is where it can become destructive, if ‘the extra’ to their life isn’t aware that’s what they are.
So, while we are trying to work everything out and get through life, we are also being constantly bombarded by things to trigger our senses, and often we are not allowed, or are restricted from indulging them or acting upon them. We have influences put upon us from day one, and it is nurtured carefully thereafter, with systems, repetition, conditioning and modifications, to have people doing what is expected of them. And if they look like they might be wanting to be independent, another round of medications, another dose of fear and regulations, knowing the triggers have been placed for whatever their choice at that time, having already laid the groundwork through media, education and entertainment. But that only works if it works when needed, the best-laid plans of mice and men and all that…
