Turns out I needed a bit more shimmery sparkle yesterday. Bold and starry was the way forward.

Finished a new painting yesterday and have to admit I am a little bit in love with it ๐

Just in case anyone might like to have a print of these cosmic skies, they are available ๐

I think spacey skies are now my thing ๐ Relaxing to do (apart from the stressful bits where you think you have messed it up), and they are nice on the eyes after. I still can’t decide if I like the blues ones or green one more…

This is one of my early acrylic attempts mountains. It didnt turn out exactly how I wanted it to but I really like it and find it calming. I did it in a panel on canvas but may try it again on it’s own.

Nature is still my inspiration at the moment. And liking a bit of sparkle too (which doesn’t come out so good in photos). Trying new trees this time, free hand so it’s a bit worrying at first thinking I’ll make a mistake. Or as Bob Ross would say, happy little accidents. Because they can be corrected or sometimes it helps the painting take a different turn.

It continues. I have some metallic acrylic paint too so had an experiment with that.

I love the boldness of the colours, but still need to get the hang of stars. Splattering paint looks easy but…

I thought this one was a right off, until I added the metallic overlay and attempted my first palm tree. I was really chuffed with it in the end. It seems to be the pieces I think I have ruined, I then relax and don’t worry about ruining it! I need to be more confident it will turn out ok.

Continuing with watercolours I redid the cactus and night sky ones, choosing to do different colour combinations to see what works best.

And as I like a bit of sparkle, got a bit distracted by the metallic paints ๐ I’m not sure which one is my favourite because I love them all.

Now I’m back on the acrylics to see what I can do with these effects in different paints.
Slowly getting there and finding styles I like. I picked two tutorials, cactus sunrise and a northern lights sky. Pleased with both but instantly wanted to do the northern lights one again and have been this last weekend. Second attempt was much better! but will be on the next post. Turns out my next cactus one was pretty good too, but it all has to start somewhere.

I also wanted to see if I could recreate one of my own sunset photographs. The one I chose I have as a set of coasters so could put it in front of me to paint. Not quite exact, but I’m happy with the results.
