In no way subtle

With obvious tones
Of malicious intent
For your safety
Was a clever way
To get all the folk
To do as they say
But with our eyes
In reality
What’s being said
Is not what we see
So shut away
We must now wait
For them to decide
And roll out our fate

Learning to paint #6
Nature is still my inspiration at the moment. And liking a bit of sparkle too (which doesn’t come out so good in photos). Trying new trees this time, free hand so it’s a bit worrying at first thinking I’ll make a mistake. Or as Bob Ross would say, happy little accidents. Because they can be corrected or sometimes it helps the painting take a different turn.

I decided to make flapjacks for the first time in over 20 years but in the process the golden syrup caught my eye once I measured it out…

When I draw it tends to be very ordered and symmetrical, although not perfect because I do them by hand. But I love those slight imperfections. Painting is a whole different ball game. Not working to strict lines has been a challenge but a good one.

Every day
They change the game
Moving the goalposts
Never the same
It’s really hard
To comprehend
Where this is going
And if it will end
What they have changed
Is the playing field
Pushing the people
Until they yield
With veiled bribes
Laced with threat
It does now seem
That this has been set
In motion and can’t be
Thwarted or slowed
We look like we’re headed
Down the long old road
To disaster

Conehead Mantis – large
This was a real treat and I still don’t really know how my husband spotted it.
But there it was, aware of us too and seemingly wanting to start making a getaway.
But i managed to follow him around for a few minutes and see what a strange creature he really, even compared to the other mantises I had seen.
Goes down as one of the most alien creatures I have ever seen.

Iridescent cloud
Sometimes these are called rainbow apparently, they say “Iridescent clouds occurs in a cloud and appears in the general proximity of the Sun or Moon”.
