That first meal of the day, the most important they say, and over the years there has been much talk about what you should eat, what is healthy, how much and so on. But the new focus appears to be targeting children, well, what isn’t these days? But another of those policies that pretends to care about the people, when clearly, they do not overall. So, I always look at the real reason one might want to be in a position to be in charge of that most important first meal of the day for the young growing minds of today.
It seems schools aren’t just the place where you get Institutionalised anymore, there is now full on grooming and indoctrination occurring on quite a disturbing scale. That Slippery Slope is getting longer. And once they are signed in each morning, the daily dose of education is now to be complimented with something to ingest. People that can’t be trusted with anything, want to be in charge of what your child gets to ingest each morning. Generally, people won’t think like that, because most people barely think about what they themselves ingest, either knowingly or unknowingly. And On The Face Of It, it does seem like a good idea, to help people look after their children so that the children don’t miss out. An extra helping hand in these strained and troubling times. Although, I wonder if many notice that the ones offering to help, are the ones who made it a struggle in the first place. Making Money from Misery, day by day, and then offering to throw you a few pennies here and there after taking all the pounds.
But it is being reported that apparently many children are facing hunger in the mornings, and that their parents can’t afford to feed them. So, the government wants to step in and step up, offering to use other people’s money again, for something they have decided is a problem. Makes me think of that piece of information I mention in A Reformed Idea, where a perceived rise in juvenile delinquency during the early 19th century gave them reason to move lots of children from rural areas into built up areas. And to then introduce lots more rules and regulations for children to adhere to. Now, a good while on from that, they would like to be the parent more and more, of other people’s children. While also treating the parents like children and Holding Us Back with each process and law they introduce, trying to get between any bond people might have amongst themselves.
I don’t deny there are some crappy parents out there, that people can be selfish and don’t prioritise their children or finances to provide what we would call, a consistent, staple nutritious diet. And I don’t doubt there are children going hungry in the mornings, lunchtimes, evenings or at any other time of the day. However, I get the distinct impression that putting a blanket policy in place that affects many, because of a few, isn’t the answer anymore. And never was, we just bought the line ‘for the greater good’ back then, but not so much now. And with all the sinister moves of late, of wanting to get more of a hold in people’s lives and intimate routine, it seems another step towards that. Taking away more responsibility, which you then have to pay for anyway, in fact, everyone will, yet it relieves you of your duty of care even further. If you aren’t feeding your kids, or teaching them, or spending any time with them, how are they being raised? By the system, like lots of people were. And parents who do care try to get a look in and take control where they can, but they have fierce competition for their child’s attention, allegiance and future place in things.
What does seem rather stupid though, is that we used to have kitchens in schools and the ability to provide for those who didn’t have enough. Cooked lunches and healthy food used to be a thing, yet it was slowly phased out, cutting costs and people needed for it, turning to outsourcing and catering companies to bring in pre-packaged, mass-produced items instead. They presume that everyone needs breakfast, they have decided a one size fits all standard as they always do, of the same thing, for everyone, at the same time. It’s painful to behold as with much these days. I wonder if people will notice, that if ever there was a time to be looking out for your community and to be Looking After Yourself, it is now…
