A magical sunrise that looked like it could have been painted. I may try and paint this one day but I doubt I could do it justice.

Every day
They change the game
Moving the goalposts
Never the same
It’s really hard
To comprehend
Where this is going
And if it will end
What they have changed
Is the playing field
Pushing the people
Until they yield
With veiled bribes
Laced with threat
It does now seem
That this has been set
In motion and can’t be
Thwarted or slowed
We look like we’re headed
Down the long old road
To disaster

This was a real treat and I still don’t really know how my husband spotted it.

But there it was, aware of us too and seemingly wanting to start making a getaway.

But i managed to follow him around for a few minutes and see what a strange creature he really, even compared to the other mantises I had seen.

Goes down as one of the most alien creatures I have ever seen.

One the more well known long barrows in England, Wayland’s Smithy. This is a stunning location and quite a site to behold when you get to the enclosure. Although situated on the ancient Ridgeway, it’s quite a walk from our known paths and roads so feels like quite a remote location. Only a mile apparently from the Uffington White Horse in Oxfordshire.

This one has also been reconstructed and only the front is exposed and accessible.

It’s very impressive when you see the size of the stones and walk around the site. Human remains have been found at this site during excavations, but from an earlier structure that this barrow was built on top of, without further bodies or burials being mentioned.

It’s amazing what is just lying around above and below ground, literally just under your feet and you might not even know it…

There haven’t been many of late since the cold weather moved in, but in the summer we had lots of different spiders. Here are a few I managed to capture, they don’t hang around!
