So, Hereditary. I was excited to see this as not many horror films catch or hold my attention these days. I avoided trailers and spoilers and waited to get it on DVD. I guess I have to rate this film in two parts as I really liked the first half but then it completely lost me. Not through confusion, but more going in the strangest direction and going for what I would call overkill (great choice of word for horror films), or just shock tactics when they are not needed.

Often I may not agree with the ending or the direction the film goes in, but I can understand it and let it go. Not with this one. For me there is so much wrong with it in the second half that didn’t need to be there, it could have been better. But initially, great premise, creepy setting and I really cannot fault the actors but when it all played out it left me feeling very underwhelmed…
